TGL observations

Postby GoesForIt on Tue Jan 28, 2025 8:24 am

I watched last night... for as long as I could take it.

1) I think I'd really like to play indoor golf like that if they had IRL and great FICTIONAL courses like links.
2) I guess I thought it would be a more serious competition.
3) What is the point of having rolling fairways and rough if you place your ball and hit on flat ground? They have hydraulics to change the green shape, seems like they could do the same for approach shots?

I'm sure it will evolve and improve. I'm sure that fans in attendance probably get a lot of autographs and buy a lot of t-shirts and other remembrances.

I just don't find it a compelling watch. At least not so far.

Also, I'd be really curious if the programmers from old Access Software (origin of Links) are in anyway involved with the software used for TGL

Honestly, to me the ball flight characteristics of Links are more realistic than what I saw last night. What I saw looked more like Tiger Woods golf for Wii. If there was backspin on an approach, it was negligible.

My brother-in-laws daughter works for TGL (in the control room he says). I'll make an inquiry.

My own version of the TGL using Links.
