Sombra Challenge

Sombra Challenge being played on the Shadowlands course. Really like this course and play it when I can on here. First round windy and one of my better windy rounds esp. on this course. Next two rounds with no wind conditions. I have got to ask this question to everyone. Have you ever had those so called close putts and just get up and hit without thinking? Well let me put it in my conditions. Yep, everyone knows I'm a step counter and yeah, I hate step counting but that's how I make putts. Now in these last two n/w rounds I missed 5 putts inside of 10'. Some even closer. I get up to these putts, don't count my steps and just go by the looks of the steps. Most are pretty sharp breaking putts and aim where I think and some I try to kind of ram them in. I do make a lot of putts this way but hate it when I miss a sure bird. Did it twice on the 600+ yd par 5.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone else makes this stupid mistake.

I don't step count, but I went through a period where I missed a lot of short putts. Now I change my aim to the high-side of the cup instead of the middle and it has helped.

can't relate tothe step counting bit but like Pete I always aim where I think/feel/guess looks right but I would say I almost never aim for the centre of the cup! More to one side to allow for a miss snap on the safe side. 100% i do that on champ for putts short enough.
