I've owned and enjoyed Links 2001 for many years, but since I upgraded my computer to Windows 7, the game won't open. It prompts me to install disk 1, but won't recognize the disk.
I get a message saying that the game cannot validate the disk, and it refers me to the Readme file for further information. But there's nothing there that looks related to my problem. I've tried Compatibility Mode, for XP, SP-2, to no avail. I just reinstalled the program from the original CD's, and they seemed to work just fine, but the program won't open.
Under XP, it never failed to open, and worked perfectly. What's different with 7?
