While it's true grapefruit can have a negatively interacting effect with an atorvastatin, one could lobby their physician to switch to a pravastatin or fluvastatin which do not negatively interact with grapefruit. From personal experience, the beneficial properties of consuming 4 - 6 ounces of grapefruit juice with every meal resulted in my overall cholesterol level dropping nearly 100 points in 2 months, which, eventually, got me off my 40 mg Pravachols.
Plus the grandkids get a real kick out of the face I make when I chug it down.
