I may be out of place here with some of these comments, but as opinionated as we all are, it might be useful to try and see things differently ....
I would guess that I've read at least 95% of all of the posts here at LSPN (in all of the forums). I don't know my post count, but it's not a lot, I don't think. Although some may not agree, I believe there is a perception by those who post less often that their opinion-type posts are taken "less seriously" that those who post much more frequently. I'm not saying it's real/true and I don't think anyone will every say that it's true. However, I believe there is a perception, and that perception is the truth for those who feel it. For the record, I personally do not feel that, but I believe others do. This is similar to the perception many have about APCD-Courses and Links Tour.
If the 1.05 and 1.06 versions are combined and that new version is used on this tour, there may be a few rounds or events that are skipped by players as a result. But, I don't see that as any different that the current set up. How many people play all the tournaments, regardless of conditions? How many people skip the 'Windy' rounds in 1.05 games?
To me, setting tournaments with difficult courses, extreme/ridiculous conditions is not very far different from people shooting -100 or better in amateur tournaments. That is my opinion and I'm certain that many or most do not agree with it.
Why are some against including 1.06 modifications with a new version, yet have no problem asking for more APCD courses be included. NONE of the APCD releases are 'official'. Since there is no 'official' development of Links, so some could argue that nothing should be tinkered with. How many lobbied to keep LSPN exactly the same as LS Tour? Many people don't care for 1.06, many people prefer it over 1.05. How many of those playing at LSPN or elsewhere haven't heard of 1.06? If they don't visit, read and/or post in the forums, it's quite possible that many have no idea it exists. How many of those that don't know it exists would prefer 1.05 to 1.06? How many would prefer 1.06 to 1.05?
Again, we are all opinionated and believe what we believe. It's difficult to convince others to share your opinions, but there is nothing wrong with trying to have people open their minds to other views. No one has to change their opinions, but I don't see that anything is being taken away from anyone, so I don't see the big resistance to change. It seems quite likely that some facets of the game (that are both present in 1.05 and 1.06) will be improved. I have yet to read anything that will be taken out of the game. I feel that more options are a benefit to the game and to the Links community in general as it should help get rid of the 1.05 and 1.06 camps.
