New problem: Course load failed

Playing Amateur Slam (dtd 11/11). Completed rnd 1 and was starting rnd 2. Rcvd the first screen after pressing begin, Links crashed w/ normal window error message because of .dll file. Exited Links and restarted. Began rnd but notice rnd 3 course instead of rnd 2. Pressed back then begin. Rnd started rnd 4 course instead of rnd 2. Pressed back, now rcv msg "Course load failed: The course could not be verified. The game cannot start". I have not gotten the disqualified message or the dq symbol next to game. No problems with PC or Links in the past. Let me know if you need more info.

Gibbie, Have you checked that the course still shows up in course manager?
I had a crash a few weeks ago when Links was starting up (not related to this Tour at all, just playing a casual game offline). The result of this was that several course files were no longer recognised by Links. They were still on my hard drive but in Course Manager they showed up as either '???' or as 'Unknown Course'.
I found that I had to Add the courses again through Course Manager and then it worked again. The actual course files were not corrupted, it was just that Links didn't recognise them. In fact I still have about four 'Unknown Courses' because, without spending the time checking my course list against the.crz's on the hard drive, I don't actually know which courses they are until I come to use one and it fails to load.

the easiest way to repair course list errors, is to delete course.dat found here

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Links 2003\Course Data

the database will be rebuilt the next time you start links.

No, can't deny being fat, but I'm not him. Same country, different person. Wonder where he got to? Don't remember anything from him at all after we moved to the Beta site.

it was still on my favourites from when he produced those 'Hidden Statistics'. Although it doesn't seem to have been updated for quite some time.

Edit: The Cricket club website that it links to was updated on the 6th Nov, so it looks like he's still active, just not here

Courses are not removed from course manager and all are playable as a standalone course. Removed course.dat file. The only change is 1st rnd at Mesa not showing completed now.
