Links error - send message?

Postby Baritone on Fri Oct 27, 2006 5:49 am

Don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but ever since I started on the LSPN, everytime I exit Links I get that Microsoft error message, saying that Links terminated unexpectantly or something like that. Is this a common problem and if so, is there a solution?

Thanks.

I think a few people have had the problem(including me) but as far I know nobody has been able to put a finger on it yet. Keep checking the posts I'm sure someone will find a solution.
How often is it happening?

i can help here... Mark said it had to with him changing the DLL.. he is aware, and will fix it. as of now since its only an additional mouse click to close the screen, and nothing is affected by it (software/hardware) its not a priority. but he will fix it!

Yep I have had that message for the last 3 times. It is always as I am logging out of Links so i hope it doesn't affect anything. As a precaution though i always reboot before I next play Links.

Yes, thanks guys. It happens every time, but only an annoyance. Glad to see it'll be fixed eventually.

I've been getting that message, too. But it's not happening every time I close. Running all the windows utilities seems to help. eg: disc cleanup, defrag, disc check

Just to be a pain to Microsoft and let them know that, though they wrote us off, we are still out here strong, I send the error report.

as bb remarks, this error is a dll problem mark knows about, is apparently not fatal to game play or any other tour operation, and will get fixed eventually. so, you can safely ignore it. one of these days it will just disappear. lw

Ditto...does not affect any other programs or when you log back into Links again.

I also send the error report each time, if just to [censored] them off more than anything. As for me, the error happens about 50% of the time and I don't reboot, defrag, disk cleanup or anything else...I can log right back onto links with no problem whatsoever.

uh, i admire everyone's dedication/devotion to links, but i don't think bill will ever lose a night's sleep over us having links crashes. i read somewhere the crash reports actually go into a big bucket for statistical purposes (i wish i could remember where i read it), and microsoft devs never see your specific transmission. 'course, it's kinda like yelling at s t u p i d (frelling censor bot!) drivers...they have no clue why you're yelling at them, but you feel better getting it off your chest.

T, ya probably read it in the crash report info, if you actually bother reading it, it'll tell you pretty much what ya just said

pppfffttt! i'm really bad about glancing/scanning stuff quickly and not reading closely. i'll take a look at it if/when i ever have another crash. it's been awhile.
