Do you remember, "The Servant"?

Postby Roughrider on Tue Oct 31, 2006 2:45 pm

It was a movie filmed in the sixties with Dirk Borgard, James Fox and Sarah Miles I believe Dirk Borgard isn upper crust gentleman or something of that ilk and hires James Fox to be his servant. James Fox is his servsnt and also, on the side he manipulates Borgards existence. Fox plays a cunning and almost evil character. He is stronger than Borgard but no value comes from this strength. Anyway I flashed on that movie from 45 years ago when thinking about the Forum problem. Tremendous movie. If you ever get the chance to see it don't pass it up as Sarah Miles was worth the price of admission even if she had nothing to do with the content of the movie. Lol.

Don't remember the film, but checked out the trailer for it. Not sure what "forum problem" you're referencing or how this film relates to it. Over my head, for sure.

No over the head thats why they had sarah miles. lol she was more than a sweetheart. ...and from the same era (though it doesn't relate to the ...ster at all, is "The Man Who Skied Down Everest" who did just that. Broke his leg half-way down, put a splint on it and kept on skiing. Japanese (they have an Everest fixation). Anyway they shot a movie of this, supposedly breathtaking and it is impossible to find now. I remember reading the reviews at the time and thinking that i ought to go see the movie. Didn't, 30 years later i realized i wanted to see that feat more than anything. Could not find the movie-don't know that i've ever met anyone who's heard of it much less seen it. But it was there at one time...and hey, lets face it, if skiing down everest were easy everybody would be doing it. LOL

I thought the woman in it was Wendy Craig(JFoxes wife). Was Sarah miles Bogards woman
on recollection she pretended to be his sister a long time since I saw it!! I think somehow you
are linking a manipulation thread from this film to events unfolding in this forum.Interesting!
