New ideas for the "CD missing" problem???

Postby Hellenstone on Mon May 07, 2007 9:01 am

Hi Guys.
Reinstalled Links2003 after an absence of more than 3 years now.
Now I have the know "Windows - No disk ... Exception Processing Message..." problem.
Luckily Links is starting afterwards because I made a full install, but this error message is annoying...

Things I already tried:
- Switch off multi user setting in the user settings
- Installed MS SafeDisk.exe fix
- Used SafeDisk2 Cleaner on RuKsHuK.exe
- Can't change the letters of my inbuild card reader drives to V, W, X, Y Z...

No success!
Any other possible solutions???
Thanks
Grisu

Why can't you? It is an OS setting and in my experience is the answer. Maybe not to "v to z" but at least changed so there is a letter gap between the HD's and CD/DVD drive letters.

@Terrell:
I already tried the Microosft fix...
The No-CD thing won't be a good idea if I want to play 1.05 or 1.06, because it's just for 1.02, or am I wrong??????

@Fix:
My card reader slots are not shown as disks like hard drive or DVD, just as changeable media, so I can't change the letters...

sorry, i got no idea, grisu. i've never had the problem, so i've never read the threads or tried the solutions. however, if i were in your situation, i would try all the possible solutions in the threads here and at linkscorner, and then report back here. but that's just me.
