virus alert

Postby Silent Knight on Wed Apr 18, 2007 2:59 pm

Until today i've had very few problems playing in Match Maker (hosting or joining).
I have tried to join 3 different games today and when i get the start launch button and run the first program it's ok then the second run appears and when I try to run that I get an alert from Avast that a Trojan Horse was found :
File name:www.lspn.net/linkslobby/launchfiles/_LSTART_bdz5q787-8c7f .... etc
Malware name: Win 32:Agent-GFY [Trj]
Malware type: Trojan Horse

using Avast virus database version 000734-2 ... 4/18/07

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks .... Silent Knight

I also have the same problem and I'm glad I have Avast anti-virus.

Hope someone do something about this soon.

I've never had a problem with these viruses. I use Zone Alarm Security Suite.

i'm not sure what can be done guys. i too am hounded by these viral predators. giller, punchshot, wombatulla, timshearer, and a particularly nasty variant called deccie clean my clock every week. normally i'd agree with pappy, zonealarm internet security suite is the best, but even it has been impotent against these juggernauts.

i've sent za tech support a message for help, but they simply look at me kinda like anyone with an iq does when shrub gives a speech.

I just did another scan and still NO viruses or spyware. I go on Matchmaker almost everyday nad play maybe every other day a funner. Some of you may not know that ZoneAlarm changed their virus/spyware engine from CA to Kaspersky (probably the best) so maybe the virus shield is keeping the baddies out (just a guess as I'm no expert by any means). That ZA version is 7.0... ZA's SPYware scan used to take only a few minutes which I thoutht was pretty quick for any scan but with Kaspersky it took about 80 mins. Also I haven't hosted in a while so maybe only hosts are catching these trojans, etc.

Anyway just thought I would post this as an fyi. If I ever do a host on matchmaker maybe I'll do another scan and see if anything was "caught".
