Translucent golfer shadow not available

Postby Hellenstone on Sun Nov 26, 2023 4:22 pm

After yeras of absence I came back tio Links 2003 and LSPN.
I really enjoy it being here and starting from scratch.
I could play L2023 on my old PC Win7 cause it had an integrated Intel HD card and I got graphic issues al over.
Now I built a new PC from used parts and I can play again of course grapic fully bumped up.
But in the options the translucent golfer shadow setting is grayed out and fixed set to Opaque.
My Syst3em now runs with
- AMD Radeon HD7850 (latest driver 22.6.1)
- Win10 64bit
- Graphic settings maxed out in the driver (AA 8xEQ, AF16x)
Dows this has to do with my AMD? I already tested gdVoodoo2 which allowed me to activate the setting but the shadows were crap and had errors.

Thanks for any tips

I built my own PC, too. A Desktop with an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Processor on a Gigabyte X470 AORUS Motherboard, and an Asus GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB Phoenix Video Card, running Windows 10. I have read that having a nVidia graphics card allows me to get translucent shadows (which I do). I had an ATI something before and could only get opaque shadows.

By the way, make sure and run the nVidia patch - even though you don't have a nVidia video card. It does more stuff for you.

It has nothing to do with your machine, it was done by Mark some years back after a server change, we lost the ability to shoot tour rounds with others around the same time.

Of course all patches were applied:
- 10.7 Final
- Nvidia Final
- LSPN Crash Fix
- LSPN Main
- 1.07 Career DLL
So it seems like Translucent is only available for NVidia cards? It's a pity especially when newer cards are much better although my Radeon 7850 is already old but I don't need more power.

Do a search for "translucent" at the beginning of this forum and you'll find numerous posts verifying what pmgolf said.

I see...!
Thanks for pointing the searching out for me.
So its really a Radeon card fault.
It's a pity, although not a real deal breaker. I just hoped now with mo modern cards a workaround would exist.
But as I said with dgVoodoo2 the translucent shadow was not correctly shown. I used the up to date version for my test of course.
Or has anybody get this to work?

It sure would be nice to shoot some tour rounds together again with someone.

That sounds great.
But I see I have lot of backlog of training when I compare my rounds to all other guys here...
