Port Forwarding Instructions

Any tips on how I can get a direct connection game to work on Links 2003?
I have allowed the game (app) through the firewall and added the port forwarding requirements to the modem but have not had any success in getting direct connection work.
Gameranger works fine though,
Very frustrating.

For me to join any Match Maker or Direct Connection game I have to unplug my computer via the Ethernet plug and plug that into the small cable converter box and bypass the router/modem all together.
