this week's under the radar event at both pro and champ is at Iron Forest, a fictional 7225 yd par 72 course by apcd designer Francois Cristallo and released in march '06. we played another cristallo apcd course (fagen's forest) just two weeks ago, and while iron forest has more leeway off the tee, the greens are again nicely contoured. the course is also sort of a 3-D showplace for francois, but the hot air balloon and other objects don't obscure the solid basic architecture and well executed apcd work.
a word of advice concerning the par 3 14th hole: there is a mound fronting the green close behind which i (of course) cut a hole location. don't be short of this hole location, or try to bounce in a shot off that mound. that's because it consists entirely of exposed stone, and a ball that hits it could wind up just about anywhere. good luck. lw
