The reason I don't like windy, is because the wind is always blowing against me on par 5's, and blowing with me on par 3's. :?

Actuallly....I don't mind too much. Everyone's score suffers a bit, so it all evens out in the end.

the question is 'your feelings about windy conditions'
my answer is i dont like them.
but (A) i dont look in advance to let it affect me whether i play or not
and (B) i play them just like i play any other

i tee it up and play the wind best i can~
no waiting, no backing out.

Windy ROCKS! Image

The new gusty wind feature in the v1.07 update should make the game (and the forum ) even more fun.

Interesting stuff for sure. My take on a few points that have been discussed.

Gusty - Is the same as adding randomness to any shot. It becomes pot luck and not a measure of players ability to compensate for the condition.

Timed rounds - Absurd! Just like speed chess and regular chess. I love the game but I don't play speed chess. And that's not even taking into consideration interruptions like phone calls, pets, children, spouse, reviewing shots to see what happened, talking and laughing with friends while you play etc. etc. etc..

Waiting in windy and breezy rounds - Waiting for it to die down or for it to be constant, big difference. Once at the ball I take a fraction of the time compared to a Pro in breezy or windy conditions. Just whacking the ball without figuring out the shot or the wind/breeze to be some what constant is a style of play that many may not enjoy!

I know it's early in the poll, but so far it's split fairly equal. Just a thought, if they have tournaments that 50% don't like playing, what is accomplished?

Well I play 2K1 right now and have to allow for 40-50 yards of difference in some cases. Pro in windy is another story all together  .

the thing that sucks with windy tho, is when you have everything set up to pull the trigger, the wind changes speed and direction in an instant and you have to do the maths again. ready to pull that trigger for the 2nd time, it changes AGAIN ! ggrrrrrrrrr lol

Don't like wind changes at the last moment? Then get ready for the new Gusty Wind Condition in the new patch JRT. The speed will vary between Breezy and Windy and change direction (moderately) and the speed (a good bit) constantly.

RR_Desperado wrote:The main reason I don`t like windy is it is too exaggerated. Secondly, I would like it better if it was not possible to wait it out. We all know that if you wait long enough , it will die down to breezy and there is no way I will sit and do that. Therefore I am at an immediate handicap to the nincompoops that do.
If Mark were to be able to go into the game and make the wind more consistent and make it so one couldn't wait it out, I'd be more apt to be willing to play it !!
Mind you, some of the players who wait for windy to die down to breezy standards will also wait out breezy until it becomes close to no wind.

Not sure if he has looked at this (I believe so) but I will definitely ask him about it to be sure. I agree that it should not eventually die down but keep up some speed relative to the initial wind setting of the screen draw.

Don't really care for the windy round. But, I really hate a windy round with 1 or 2 'F's on the green conditions.

But our beloved game is already nothing but randomness Dr Dave. Each of us that tees up in the same event gets different wind conditions (direction) to play in. One gets the wind with him and the other against and the rest somewhere in-between.

But no one is asking for speed chess play. Just NOT World Championship Chess play speed where they can play one match for days at a time.

But does anyone actually play with out at least doing some consideration to the wind? Some do take longer than others, as you say the IRL Pros do (drives me crazy too), but the complaint is the incessant waiting that some do because of the games now used system of finally dying down. Eliminate that propensity in the game programming and the long wait is eliminated.

As to the 50/50 split vote, that is probably the same split you would get on any question about play you poll about Links. I bet that playing in ammy events would also get a 50/50 split if polled.

I'm with ya 100%

I would even like the gusty wind feature to work in "no wind" rounds to create slight breezes. This suggestions ought to make me real popular

By the way, the wind "freeze" should be fixed

The wind should not freeze at some exact value when the player clicks to swing for any of the swing types. I would hope Links could be patched to either coninue to vary the wind during the shot or to make the wind indicator give only basic wind direction and strength, especially when the mouse if over the club for classic or when it has been clicked for PS or RTS.

One more suggestion which applies to windy or breezy.....incorporate the wind indicator into the swing meter somehow. That way, one can keep an eye on the windmeter while starting the snap. I hate to have to look at one side of the screen for the wind activity, then look at the meter for the snap. This fuggs you up sometimes when the wind changes. The only other option is to play crosseyed with one eye on the meter and one on the wind indicator.

Agree
