Bear, it's a one time thing. They may eventually have an annual fee or something, but those who have donated would be credited for donations made. Or at least that is my understanding.

PayPal is just a secure means to pay for things purchased on the Internet. The Donate button is a way players can contribute for the hard work and expense to keep this site up and running. It's just like any other donation, if you have a little extra click on the button and help out.

I'm sure if donations fall short a membership will be needed. Either way, Links must live on!!

I agree a PO Box or other address to send check or money order donations should also be considered. Lets face it not everyone is comfortable making credit card/debit card transactions via the internet and a Post Office Box address should be established to accommodate those people.

However a currency difference would be involved in some instances with donations made by checks or money orders. But so would a monthly or annual fee. So why not deal with the money order/currency issue now. IMO no better time than now to tackle such an issue.

Then again maybe only paypal transactions should be allowed. I would think paypal eliminates any curreny issues. Glad I'm not Mark. No way to please everyone all the time.

i can assure everyone that paypal is a secure method of transfering funds over the net to where you want them to go. the only requirement is a credit card. it may be possible to send a direct withdrawl from your bank account, but in my case only the IRS has that number. lw

I agree with Larry here. My Credit Card info is much safer on a secure site like Pay Pal than in the hands of a restaurant waiter that walks away with it for 5 minutes.

for all of the long time veterans who have been playing events on this site for a long time, this is the time to step up and put in some bucks when it will count.

we users now control the game. there are three main sites, each with different functions. LC is a central community site which has all the files and a long history of course reviews. apcd-courses is the technical site that supports all the designers of whatever level of expertise, and has members who are the driving technical force as the users have taken over the game. the (access, microsoft, indie) lspn site has always been the mass playing site for the many players that want to simply click and play, and want a wide range of events to choose from and the largest fields. the lspn site has never had the security provisions of verified games like other sites, but once the site gets going, there are ways of dealing with certain problems that in the past were not considered possible in the recent corporate past.

we are now like the model railroad club hobbyists. we have our technical specialists, our designers, and the many regular rank and file players. all have a necessary function if our hobby is going to remain healthy.

this site could use some bucks now, even if mark has not asked. i've been an annual paid up member at apcd-courses, and if ian at LC needs bucks i'll be there too. this is still a fun game, and a few bucks tossed in the hat now by the guys who have enjoyed playing here over the years isn't asking too much. we now hold our own fate in our own hands. if we plow some bucks into this site now, we can assure that this site will become fully operational. once that happens, the basic hardcore player population that has previously been a constant over the years and all the links versions will gradually start showing up as the word gets around. lw

While I agree PayPal is a very good option, I also agree there should be a mail in option. Not everyone has a credit card.

Paypal does not need a credit card, you can link it directly to your checking account. I setup a checking account that I transfer only the funds I'm using for specific Internet payments, and no more. Sending a check in the mail is the most risky way to pay anything. Anyone can open that mail and have access to your bank account, routing number and signature. If there is something safer than Paypal, I want to know about it, because I shop a lot on the Internet.

If I am not mistaken (and I have been know to be  ), I believe Paypal still offers a credit card which you may receive a cash back bonus each year (1% of qualified purchases). *
