It looks like I will not be playing any Links till I get back home. My laptop bit the dust today and won’t even turn on. Yea, even with it plugged in. After just turning off 4 times before I could go anywhere’s. Pulled the battery out to see if it would do the same and wouldn’t start. Put battery back in and now will not do anything. Needed a new one anyway but even if I buy one, I don’t have any of my program cd’s. Any recommendations on a new one? I don’t use it much so don’t need a gaming machine. I’m thinking I7, 12 gigs of ram and 512 SSD. I see some for about $800 to $1000. I am guessing at that price the graphics card is what ever comes with the package.

Thoughts?

On my iPad now.

i gotta WinTel Tower PC Jim - i5 3GHz / 8Gb Ram / plain Western Digital 1Tb HDD /2GB nVidia GeForce dedicated Video Card.......with Windows 10 64 bit. It all runs Links PERFECT - fast, never a hitch the past 18 months !

wish i had 16 RAM tho and an SSD

my advice - get plenty of RAM :)

I recommend also considering AMD to avoid the Intel video challenges (ie. Intel Onboard Graphics). :D My desktop has a AMD Ryzen 5 2600 processor, but a Ryzen 5 3600 would give you plenty of power. I scaled back to the 2600 to keep my PC more compatible with Links and added 16 GB of RAM and a 1 GB SSD. Check out "TomsHardware.com" for more information.

Thanks guys. My desktop at home is running fine, it is just I am away on vacation and need to replace an old 11 yr. laptop. Somehow it started working again last night so don't know what the problem is but still need a new one. Yea, I've been looking at the AMD also. In upstate NY there are not a lot of "computer stores" to find what you are looking for so will most likely order from online.
